My thoughts for today, perseverance to keep going. How hard is that? I explain to my students that they need to keep going and never quit, but do I model that in my own life?
I am learning how to persevere, through Weight Watchers and even through potty training. (Thank you son number 2). It is NOT an easy lesson, but one that is important. When we persevere, we win in the long run.
I heard a story from Dave Ramsey of Financial Peace University that I believe sums up perseverance beautifully. It come from the Aesop’s Fable, The Tortoise and the Hare. The story goes something like this, there was a very wealthy generous man that Mr. Ramsey met and questioned about his life, wealth, ect. When Ramsey asked his secret to his success, the man told him of a special book. Naturally Ramsey thought he would bring out His Bible, but he did not, he brought out the Tortoise and the Hare and gave Ramsey a copy. He asked Ramsey to go home and read it. Respecting the man Ramsey read it over and over. About the 3rd time or so it hit him, the TORTOISE wins. The TORTOISE wins!!! Slow but study wins the race.
So if you are like me and need a refresher about perseverance, remember this simple lesson, it does not matter how slow or how much time it takes, (remember the thief on the cross, it was before his last breath that he found salvation) just keep going, don’t quit and you, like the “Tortoise” , will win your race.
